(Yes, I still read your blog.) This is one of the best questions posed in this century. I think the two might be inextricably linked, which is most unfortunate. I don't know the context, of course, but it's hard for me to believe that telling is simply telling. It's part of an exchange, a dare, a secret skill, and perhaps verbal will to kill.
wow, dang, thanks. and i really like "verbal will to kill." i'm not referring to one exchange, but to many i have been replaying in my head recently--many with various people.
